FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 2 April 2012
The Australian Baseball Federation (ABF) is pleased to announce it has secured a partnership deal with Wilson as the ‘Official Ball of the ABF’ and the ‘Official Glove and Ball of Aussie T-Ball’.
A world leader in manufacturing ball sports equipment, Wilson has been at the heart of the sports industry for almost a century, and seeks to continue that involvement by partnering with the ABF to deliver quality baseballs and gloves for the Australian Baseball and Aussie T-Ball community.
In a strategic alliance that allows Wilson and the ABF to work together to achieve mutual corporate and community objectives, this partnership will foster long term benefits for the Australian Baseball community.
Australian Baseball Federation CEO Brett Pickett welcomed the partnership with Wilson as a positive step forward for the broader baseball community.
“The Australian Baseball community purchase hundreds of thousands of baseballs every year, so it is great to have Wilson recognise the tangible opportunities that being a partner of the Australian Baseball Federation can provide” said Mr Pickett.
Commercial Manager of Wilson in Australia, Graham Maher said that they are very excited to be a partner of the ABF.
“This decision is a natural one for Wilson as we have a long and established history in Baseball and in partnering with the ABF, we have the opportunity to directly work with those associated with growing the game while also allowing us to better connect with our grass roots customers and everyone involved in baseball in Australia” said Graham.
“The Aussie T-Ball program, a joint initiative with Major League Baseball, is a very effective engagement tool for young children and it has been highly successful in attracting new members to our sport” said Mr Pickett.
In only its inaugural year, over 17,000 children have participated in Aussie T-Ball programs across the nation and with partners such as Wilson coming aboard to support the program, those numbers are expected to significantly increase.
