Guam Back out of Olympic Qualifier!!!
News just in!!!!  Guam have pulled out of the 2004 Guam vs Australia Oceania Championship.  The tournament that was scheduled to start on the 28th January until the 1st February has been cancelled and it is anticipated that Australia may now advance to the Africana vs Ocieania Olympic Qualifier. The decision as to whether Australia will advance to the next round is subject to the advice of the BCO, and a final decision will not be made until such advice has been sought. If Australia does advance, they will face South Africa for the final place in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Australian baseball officials were informed of Guam's decision to back out of the series three days before the tournament was due to start.
All Australian players will leave Blacktown today and will return on Monday of next week for some intense training before the Olympic Qualifier series, which is set to start on 5th-9th February at Blacktown Olympic Park.
The Australian National Baseball Squad met today for their first training session at Blacktown Olympic Park and will not meet again until the 2nd February where they will have their second training session in the evening. At this stage, the team will train on the 2nd, possibly play a game against Korean National team the LG Twins on the 3rd, train once again on the 4th of February before the series starts on the 5th of February.
