Maryland, USA famous for its beautiful countryside, strong agricultural industry, and a thriving fishing industry on the Chesapeake Bay is good to know but what has that got to do with Aussie Baseball? It happens to be where Craig Anderson from the NSW Central Coast is playing his trade getting ready for this coming inaugural Australian Baseball League season.
Anderson has had significant Minor League Triple AAA time in the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles organizations. An 11-year veteran, Anderson had his rights acquired by the Southern Maryland Bluecrabs this offseason from the Brockton Rox of the Can-Am League where he played last season along with fellow NSW pitcher Wayne Lundgren.
This season ‘The Frustrator’ as he is affectionately known as by the fans is currently 6-1 over 44.1 Innings with a 3.25ERA. All told for Anderson’s career, he is an impressive 94-65 with a 3.87 ERA in 260 professional games (238 starts) in nearly 1,500 innings pitched. Anderson has had a distinguished international career as one of Australia’s top hurlers, suiting up for the Australian national team in the 2004 Olympics, and the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classic Tournaments.
