August 6, 2004 - Final Eight Teams Advance to the 2004 Cal Ripken World Series |

Ripken Baseball, host organization for Babe Ruth League, Inc.’s 2004 Cal Ripken World Series presented by Chevrolet, today announced the eight 12-year-old Regional Cal Ripken Champions that will represent the United States in the Cal Ripken World Series.
The 2004 Cal Ripken World Series teams are as follow: |
National Division: Kennewick, Washington Oahu, Hawaii- Pacific Greenwich, Connecticut Pine Bluff, Arkansas St. Mary's County |
American Division: Montgomery, New Jersey Lexington, Kentucky Raleigh, North Carolina Saint Cloud, Minnesota Churchville, Maryland |
International Division: South Korea Canada Australia Dominican Republic Mexico |

Tournament play will begin on August 14th at 11:00am. Pool Play competition will take place from August 14-19 with five games being played each day. The first game will begin at 11:00am and the final game of the day will start at 8:00pm.
On Friday, August 20 there will be four games of single elimination competition and from those games the participants for the International Division Championship Game and United States Championship Game will be determined.
On Saturday, August 21 the International Championship Game will be played at 1:00pm with the United States Division Championship Game taking place at 3:30pm. Both games will be broadcast live on CN8 and InHD starting at 1 pm EST.
The World Series Title Game will be played on Sunday, August 22 at 4:00 pm. The game will be broadcast nationally, live on Fox Sports Net.
Last year marked the first time that the Cal Ripken World Series was played in Aberdeen, Maryland. Team Mexico defeated Hilo, Hawaii to capture the 2003 World Championship in front of a sold-out crowd.
In the summer of 1999 Babe Ruth League, Inc. changed the name of its largest division from “Bambino” to “Cal Ripken Baseball”. Since that time Babe Ruth League, Inc. has enjoyed an average growth of 7% each year and currently over 600,000 kids worldwide play Cal Ripken Baseball, a division of Babe Ruth League, Inc., for players ages 5-12. The Cal Ripken World Series is the culminating tournament for the 12-year old division.
