Australian Women's National Team - Background
The Australian women's baseball team, still relatively young in comparison to its male counterpart, has already compiled a strong record of achievement since its inception. (WWS) of baseball, with invited countries including
In the same year, the American Women's Baseball Federation recognised the growth on women's baseball around the world and organised the Women's World Series
That same year, Geelong hosted a Women's International tournament in which Canada, the USA and a club team from Japan attended. A second Australian team, a development team, also participated, though it was their senior counterparts that came out on top in the final against Canada.

In the 2004, the IBAF recognised the rapid development of women's baseball world wide and sanctioned an official Women's World Cup to be held every two years.

The team also received many individual honours in 2004, with numerous selections in All World Teams. Amy McCann was selected the All World team at the World Series, whilst Chelsea Forkin and Katie Gaynor were named to the World Cup All Star team.
In 2006,
In the WWC in Japan in 2008, Australia finished agonisingly close to a medal, losing by one run in the bronze medal match against the USA. Angela Catford was the only player to be named to the All World Team.
