2009 National Womens Championships - About

The Australian Women's Baseball Championships were first held in 1999.

Held each year, beginning on the Easter long weekend, the Nationals rotate states each year with towns to have held the championships included Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Gold Coast, Tamworth, Ipswich and Wollongong.

The City of Geelong will host the championships at the fantastic Geelong Baseball Centre in Waurn Ponds.

Competing teams include Victoria (A and B sides), News South Wales, Country New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.  South Australia has also competed on three occasions.

Victoria has claimed eight titles in the past ten years, losing only to New South Wales in 2003 and 2006.

In 2001, Baseball Australia introduced an Australian Women's Program and the national team is named following each championships.
