2007 World Children's Baseball Fair

Australia has again been invited to attend this prestigious event which will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico from July 29 to August 6 2007.

The WCBF is held every year to promote baseball and provide an opportunity to develop international friendship, goodwill, and cultural understanding among the youth of the baseball world. This has been a successful event since 1990 when the first fair was held in Los Angeles when it was founded by Sadaharu Oh and Hank Aaron.

During the WCBF event, the children will have the opportunity to learn the correct, basic skills of baseball, with the emphasis on fun and participation. This is a time for children to enjoy and share their love of baseball.

The participants will attend morning baseball clinics instructed by specially appointed coaches while each afternoon and evening they will partake in cultural and recreational activities to further enhance cultural understanding and appreciation.

Australia has been invited to send five children and one chaperone to the fair this year. Following established procedures the children selected for 2007 will come from associations affiliated with Baseball Northern Territory, ACT Baseball Association, Baseball Victoria, Baseball South Australia and Baseball NSW.

Australia will be represented by,

Alex Griffiths                       NSW

Mitchell Green                    NT

Nico Ali Vander Linden       South Australia

Dylan Fox                         ACT

Jack Scheffer                     Victoria

These 5 children together with their chaperone,Scott Murray from New South Wales will do an excellent job as Australia's ambassadors at the WCBF.
